Compliance

Continuing investigations and penalties imposed by federal and state agencies have moved compliance programs to the forefront of importance for health care providers. Fortunately, compliance is a real strength for Dominion Medical Management. 

 

Complete Compliance Program

Dominion Medical has a fully functioning compliance program supported by a documented compliance plan. Our compliance program was developed with the support of legal experts, consultants, and vendors and is governed by our Compliance Committee and administered by department heads. 
 
One important aspect of compliance is coding. We currently employ more than 25 Certified Professional Coders with an average of more than seven years of experience. Many are specialists in particular modalities and several coders have achieved additional RCC certification beyond the CPC level. In addition, to hiring experienced coders, Dominion Medical sets high performance standards in billing operations, including coding, rather than arbitrary “quotas” to ensure that Client expectations are met.
 
Supporting the work of our coders, Dominion Medical has partnered with the industry's leading NLP-based coding systems to provide the highest possible level of accuracy and compliance. In addition, Dominion Medical's accuracy in claims processing is regularly tested by one of the highest quality audit standards. Up to 20% of more than a million transactions are audited each month with data correction required in less than 1% of the transactions tested.
 

Meets or Exceeds HIPAA Regulations

Another important aspect of compliance is patient information security. Dominion Medical and its supporting vendors have implemented policy and procedures that meet or exceed the security regulations of HIPAA. User ID's and passwords are used to ensure only authorized access to patient data. Employee systems utilize automatic time-outs when not in current use. Patient names are hidden from coding personnel. All employees are trained relative to HIPAA privacy requirements. The IT security systems that Dominion Medical employs are similar to those used by financial institutions to secure data storage and transmittal.
